Excerpts from the Programme
A very heartily welcome to tonight's special event featuring Auckland's new, innovative and engaging chamber orchestra. We're thrilled to have you join us on our very first public 'hooray' and trust that you will enjoy what we have lined up for you tonight.
Although the idea of ENZEMBLE was incepted years ago - to provide a platform for youth performing innovation & excellence in Auckland - it was only a few months back that this actually became a reality. With a few faithful friends, a pen, a serviette (and a flat white) in hand, we drew up the first plans to become the first orchestra to put on a concert here in the uber chic surroundings of the Auckland Art Gallery. Ambitious, different, spontaneous and just a tad crazy - such is the burden of being young!
New Frontiers is our way to celebrate Auckland's increasingly bustling arts scene, the resilient energy of NZ's top young artists and great music-making itself. The awe-inspiring surroundings of the refurbished Auckland Art Gallery is therefore a most fitting venue for us as we also endeavour 'refurbish', engage and recreate music from the ages for your pleasure. As a living artistic organism, ENZEMBLE aims to add to the splendid collection housed here in this gallery and, in doing so, contribute to the diverse cultural fabric that makes Auckland one of the world's most liveable cities.
